I’m currently in the car on my way back to Utah to rest up, get some work done, then back off to Macworld. But I wanna talk about possibly the best time I have had yet.
I drove into the city of sin with Ryan, Brent, and Mike and stopped in Mesquite to play some wheel of fortune gambling machine. Last year, this machine made them $300. This time, they went down $200. With their dreams crushed in the casino, we hit the road again and reached Vegas. Lights illuminated the sky, and a fog overlooked the town. Four men, millions of lights, one crazy adventure.
We stopped at the Wynn hotel and grabbed a bite at The Buffet. It was $40 a head, but well worth it. The prime rib and strawberry crepes were to die for . After that, we got settled in our hotel ready for Sunday – Preparation.
We woke up late (for reasons unexplained) and set course for the Venitian. We wandered around as Ryan had a booth to attend to. (his high end audio amps were featured in one of the booths.) I decided to see what online friends were attending, and saw the Benjamin Higginbotham and his accomplice Ed Kohler were here! We met up and decided to go see the Microsoft Keynote. The toughest thing about seeing the keynote was that we had to run to two different expos to get my pass and back. (read post 1 about the keynote)
When the keynote was done, we grabbed a bite to eat (on Bens dime thank you ever so much) and headed over to the most exclusive bloggers dream location ever. The Blog Haus sponsored by Seagate. At the Blog Haus, I was able to reach iJustine and we all have an awesome time talking about anything and everything. Ed got red in the face, Ben lost a domain registration war, I was officially called a lightweight, and Justine gave out cards.
I awoke the next morning on a couch and feeling horrible. My feet hurt, I slept an hour, but I was pumped for CES. We busted down the doors of the convention in an explosion of awesome and sexiness. We focused alot on different 1080 p projectors and LCD tv’s. I played guitar hero infront of a crowd and got a kick ass Peavy shirt. We kept wandering around till I met up with Justine. We headed to the Blog Haus again and did some streaming until she took off to catch a flight out of Vegas. I bailed out of the haus to go eat with my friends at the Pink Taco in the Hardrock hotel. After some delicious food, and some hilarious conversations, we parted ways: Them to gamble, and me to join with Ben and Ed at the Penn and Teller show.
On the way to the show, we were totally excited to see the amazing tricks they did such as shooting eachother in the mouth to catch the bullet, Filling a jug of water FULL of goldfish, and even a trick that involved me! Penn waltzed down the the stairs and asked if I could come up on stage. I took off my shoes so It was wierd coming up there with just socks. Either way, he asked if he could see could see my glasses, and he put them in his front pocket of his jacket. He then showed me another trick which was having a billiard ball disappear. What made me look like an idiot, was that he made the wand “disappear” when in fact he just put it behind his ear.. (I know I know.. I’m retarded.) The craziest thing was that Teller had a concrete block on his head and when Penn destroyed the concrete block, Teller was WEARING MY GLASSES! I was blown away.
After the show, we were able to meet them and get a few pictures and autographs. Best night of my life. Oh and by the way. Penn is a very tall man.
