Hey everyone I am here on my laptop at the Bloghaus makine a quick post about the CES Microsoft keynote.
Thanks to Ben and Ed, I was able to see Bill Gates up close. The keynote overall was pretty intense. he first started to talk about that this was the last keynote he was going to embark on. he talked about his last days on Microsoft and how it was gonna be. there was a very funny video depicted about him and what he would be doing after his job such as singing with Bono, running for the vice president with hilary and obama, acting, to rapping with jay-z.
After all of that, he talked about the new “innovating” products such as the Microsoft sync. which was able to sync your music from any mp3 player and implements the songs to your car. nothing special right? the cool thing is that the car that this is implemented in has voice recognition and syncs to any song in your library. ooo aaa…. wait… isn’t that already available? thanks for reinventing the wheel (no pun intended.)
After this there were talks about different “new” features on their software such as a new black box with a camera that recognizes buildings/faces and gives as to what they do. I thought it was an epic defining moment for searching for buildings and directions, but i cant see the practicality for it. simply put, its a great idea, but who the hell cares. as for Silverlight, I thought the generic idea was cool in the sense that the panoramic tool that completes photos as a panoramic view was extremely cool. There was also some neat features for a calender, music share site, etc. but honestly, its something that no one cares about!
Sorry Microsoft. Your keynote was interesting, seeing slash do epic riffs was awesome, but you need to do better work with your software so people can actually find a function for it…
